Advent Calendar Wreaths

We have been loving December and our Christmas Advent activities. Go-go can't wait for Daddy to get home so that he can go "open the paper". I promised I would post pictures and I am finally making good on my word. Ruth and I were inspired by the wonderful tins on this wreath, but wanted to put our own spin on it. We each made two wreaths (I will try to get pictures of Ruth's too - they are incredibly cute [update - here's a picture of one of Ruth's wreaths]). Here are mine (we're currently using the red and green one):

(more info on how we made the wreaths here)

SO cute! I love that idea!

p.s. where can one get one of your quiet books that I've heard so much about?

Wow, I love those! So cute! Where do you get the little tins? I guess probably at a craft store. I'm not very crafty. :) But these don't look too hard and are so great. Did you use fabric or paper in the lids? Maybe I'll have to try one for next year.

Ruth and I bought them from a wholesale supplier, but you can get the 2-inch size at Michael's or JoAnne's (in the wedding department), or you can get them online here:

Those are really cool! But I am really lame at figuring out how such things are done--what do you use for the original circle that you put the tins on, and do the kids have screw on lids so you just open them that way?

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I really want to dress all my boys in pink b/c they look so cute in it, but alas, people get confused. I miss you too! Book group just isn't the same after the exodus.

The base is just a flat wreath form we bought at Michael's then spray painted (one silver, one green). The kids don't have screw-on lids (wouldn't that make attitude adjustments easier? ;), but the tins have lids that just pop off. In fact, sometimes they pop off too easily - screw-on would be better, but I haven't found any like that.

I love those!! That is the cutest idea. I'm going to have to remember that for next year. I would have never come up with that on my own. Did you hot glue the tins to the ring?

Okay you totally showed up my little print out the advent calendar and check it off from the list on the fridge! Can you post some more insturctions on how to make it? Like what ribbon you used, what the cute little doo-dad is under the 24...how do you put it all together? Also, do you always do the advent after work? DOes that work, timing wise?I love this and totally want to steal your idea! Thanks for posting it!

Ha! I am not-so-subtly looking for ways to control my kids.
